My stash has expanded in the last month or so, in preparation for #4 – a study in hue and tone and value. Some of these bits were raided from my mother’s and grandmother’s scrap bins and stashes, and I am excited to incorporate small pieces of quilts they’ve made into this one of mine. After all, that is the honoured tradition of quilting – using all available scraps to create something else new and useful, stitching in the memories of someone’s favourite shirt or childhood blanket. In this case it’s stitching in pieces of the past creative expressions of my two main inspirations. Carrying forth the tradition and energy.
